About
Tailgunner named themselves after an Iron Maiden song, which tells you pretty much everything about where they're coming from. The English heavy metal outfit, put together by bassist Thomas Hewson, wears its NWOBHM influences on its sleeve, drawing from Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, and Motörhead to craft a sound rooted in classic British metal. Their 2022 EP Crashdive was produced by Olof Wikström of Enforcer, and their debut album Guns for Hire arrived in 2023 via Fireflash Records, landing at number 50 on the UK independent album charts. They hit the ground running live, supporting KK's Priest alongside ex Iron Maiden singer Paul Di'Anno for their live debut, then going on to tour with U.D.O. and Riot V across the UK and Europe. The current lineup features Hewson on bass, Craig Cairns on lead vocals, Zach Salvini on guitar, and Eddie Mariotti on drums. Their second album Midnight Blitz followed in 2026.
