About
Takuya Nakamura grew up in Tokyo before moving to the United States to study under jazz theorist and composer George Russell at the New England Conservatory of Music. That foundation in jazz theory and composition shaped the way he would approach music going forward. After relocating to New York City in 1994, he built a reputation within the jazz and jungle scenes, collaborating with names like Quincy Jones, David Byrne and Arto Lindsay. His more recent work pulls his jazz background into conversation with electronic music, blending the two in ways that feel genuinely original rather than just genre curious.
