About
Johannes Peetsma performs under the name TikTok Tammo, a character that took off during the pandemic when his gigs as a musician dried up. Starting in August 2020, he began posting short, funny videos in the Gronings dialect, and the alter ego quickly became a cultural phenomenon, largely thanks to the catchphrase "Dikke bak met bietn!" By December 2020 he had been voted Groninger van het Jaar by RTV Noord's audience. Before TikTok Tammo, Peetsma was one half of the acoustic duo The Given Horse alongside Frisian fellow student Marius van der Leij. The two busked their way through the United States among other places, and released the album Morgen stop ik echt in 2020. In 2023 he took his theatre show on the road, performing songs by the beloved Groningen singer songwriter Ede Staal, bringing the regional culture and language to a wider audience in a new way.
