About
Teleman grew out of the ashes of Pete and the Pirates, the Reading indie band that called it quits in 2011. Thomas Sanders, his brother Jonny, and Pete Cattermoul regrouped with drummer Hiro Ama, named themselves after a Georg Philipp Telemann album they spotted in a charity shop, and set about building something new. Their 2014 debut album Breakfast, produced by Bernard Butler, introduced singles like "23 Floors Up" and "Skeleton Dance", and the band quickly found themselves touring alongside Suede, Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs, and playing festivals including Glastonbury. BBC 6 Music presenter Marc Riley took an early shine to them, booking their first session back in January 2013, and the relationship stuck through multiple sessions over the following years. Their second album Brilliant Sanity arrived in April 2016, previewed by the singles "Fall in Time" and "Düsseldorf". The lineup shifted in 2020 when keyboard player Jonny Sanders departed, leaving the group as a trio.
