Few artists have racked up milestones as fast as Tems. The Lagos born singer, songwriter and producer broke through globally when her feature on Wizkid's "Essence" cracked the Billboard Hot 100, and things only accelerated from there. Future sampled her vocals for "Wait for U", a song that debuted at number one on the Hot 100, making her the first African artist to land a debut at that position. That track also earned her a Grammy for Best Melodic Rap Performance, and she co wrote "Lift Me Up" for Rihanna, pulling in nominations for an Oscar, a Golden Globe and a Grammy along the way. Her sound sits at the intersection of afrobeats, neo soul and alternative R&B, a blend she shapeshifted across her two EPs before her 2024 debut album Born in the Wild arrived to strong reviews. That record pushed her Grammy count higher when "Love Me JeJe" won Best African Music Performance at the 67th Grammy Awards, making her the first Nigerian artist to hold multiple Grammy wins. She has now sold over 25 million certified units worldwide.
