About
After eleven seasons and more than 75,000 tickets sold, The 70's Unplugged have built a serious following around a simple but effective idea: stripping back the greatest songs of the 1970s to their bare essentials. No elaborate production, just the melody, the lyrics, and the emotional pull of the original recording. Their repertoire draws from artists like Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, Joni Mitchell, CCR, and Simon & Garfunkel, played with close attention to the spirit of each song rather than flashy reinterpretation. The band is a five piece outfit from the Netherlands, with Vannessa Thuyns on vocals and piano, Joost Dobbe on vocals, guitar and harmonica, René Veerhuis on drums and vocals, Leo Mongula on bass and vocals, and Jan Willem Verbeek on guitar and vocals. The shared vocal duties give their shows a warm, ensemble feel that suits the acoustic approach perfectly.
