Few Swedish bands have burned as bright in the garage rock revival as The Hellacopters. Formed in Stockholm in 1994 as a side project for Nicke Andersson and guitarist Dregen, the band quickly became something far bigger, earning a Swedish Grammy for their debut Supershitty to the Max!, recorded entirely live in just 26 hours. Their sound shifted across albums, from the raw Detroit punk fury of their early records to the handcrafted seventies rock warmth of Grande Rock, laid down in an old hippie studio deep in the Swedish woods. After disbanding in 2008, they came back together in 2016 and have kept the momentum going, signing to Nuclear Blast and releasing Eyes of Oblivion in 2022. Their most recent album, Overdriver, followed in early 2025, proof that the band still has plenty to say.
