The Hoosiers kicked things off in serious style when their debut album The Trick to Life shot to number 1 on the UK Albums Chart in October 2007, just months after their first single Worried About Ray cracked the top 5. The trio, formed around Irwin Sparkes and Alan Sharland after a spell in Indianapolis (which gave the band their name), signed to RCA and worked with Toby Smith, a former member of Jamiroquai, as producer. Their second single Goodbye Mr A even found its way into the football game FIFA 08. After parting ways with RCA and Sony over a disagreement about how their second album The Illusion of Safety was promoted, the Hoosiers took a more independent route. Their third and fourth albums, The News from Nowhere and The Secret Service, were both funded through fan pre orders on their own Crab Race label. More recently, they have kept things going with the 2023 track Snowflake, showing the core duo of Sparkes and Sharland still have plenty left to say.
