About
Born out of a US tour bus conversation between Soilwork members Björn Strid and David Andersson, The Night Flight Orchestra set out to resurrect the big, melodic sound of 1970s and early 80s rock. What started as a side project grew into something far more serious, with bassist Sharlee D'Angelo of Arch Enemy joining early on and the band eventually signing to Nuclear Blast Records. Their music sits squarely in classic rock and AOR territory, drawing comparisons to Journey, Foreigner, Toto and Supertramp. By the time of Sometimes the World Ain't Enough they were weaving in disco and funk, showing a willingness to push the palette further. The two part Aeromantic saga cemented their ambition, and recent videos like "Burn For Me" keep that glossy, hook driven sound firmly intact. The band has carried on following the death of founding guitarist David Andersson in 2022, a loss that hit the group hard.
