About
The Preacher Men are an Amsterdam trio made up of Efraïm Trujillo, Rob Mostert and Chris Strik, playing a core sound that sits squarely in jazz blues territory. Their 2019 album Blue earned them the Edison Jazz Publiekprijs, a listener voted Dutch jazz award, and they kept building from there. The album Royal Flush followed and landed them another nomination for the same prize. They also released a live record at Bimhuis along the way. On their album 12, recorded to mark twelve years together as a band, they stretch their usual sound into soul, funk and gospel as well. For that project they brought in a circle of collaborators including vocalists Marjorie Barnes and Nicola Missing, bassists Jeroen Vierdag and Deborah Slijkhuis, and guitarist Rory Ronde. The result is a fuller picture of what the trio can do when they open the doors a little.
