About
The Ruins of Beverast is the solo project of Alexander von Meilenwald, a German musician who channelled his vision of crushing, atmospheric black and doom metal into a singular outlet after his previous band Nagelfar folded in 2003. The name itself is a telling detail: "Beverast" is Meilenwald's own twist on "Bifröst", the old Norse bridge connecting the mortal and divine realms. All studio instruments and vocals are his alone, with live performances handled by an expanded lineup since 2013. Released through Ván Records, the project's albums have earned serious respect in the metal press. Der Spiegel called the third record Foulest Semen of a Sheltered Elite "highly complex", while the 2017 album Exuvia pulled in near perfect scores from Metal Hammer Germany and Metal.de. The Thule Grimoires followed in 2021, keeping the project firmly in the conversation for some of the most dense, immersive metal coming out of Germany.
