About
The Soulful Sessions is a live night built around soul, funk and R&B, where rotating guest vocalists step up front of a house band, The Soulful Sessions Band. The guests change from edition to edition, mixing international names with Dutch voices, and a DJ keeps things moving before, between and after the live sets with soul, funk, disco and R&B. The repertoire leans on the classics, the kind of songs associated with Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Earth, Wind & Fire, Prince, James Brown and Otis Redding. Newer influences like Anderson.Paak, Tom Misch, Jill Scott and Bruno Mars get a look in too, and the singers also work in some of their own material. Past editions have been staged in Amsterdam and Arnhem, including a bigger XL format.
