The Strumbellas built their reputation on a sound that blends indie rock, gothic folk, and alt country into something that feels genuinely heartfelt rather than genre box ticking. The Canadian band from Lindsay, Ontario made a serious splash with their 2016 album Hope, whose lead single "Spirits" hit the top of the Billboard Alternative Songs chart and landed them a live spot on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. That song went on to win the 2017 Juno Award for Single of the Year, capping a run that also included a Juno win for their 2013 album We Still Move on Dance Floors. In 2022, founding vocalist Simon Ward stepped back to focus on songwriting and family, with Jimmy Chauveau stepping in as frontman. The band kept moving, releasing the album Part Time Believer in early 2024. More recently they put out a couple of new songs and the EP Burning Bridges Into Dust in 2025, showing no signs of slowing down.
