About
The Tall Tales build their sound around an unusually rich combination of guitars, lap steel, two brass instruments, and vocals. The lineup features Lily Kiara on guitar and voice, Joost Buis on lap steel guitar, Felicity Provan on cornet and voice, Paul Pallesen on guitar, and James McClure on trumpet. The result is something between a song cycle and a poetry reading, with lyrics circling around the strange ways people relate to one another, to nature, and to love. The band frames their whole approach with a quote from Jeanette Winterson, which says a lot about the literary ambition behind the music.
