About
The Wood Brothers only exist because of a single guest spot. In 2001, Oliver Wood sat in with Medeski Martin & Wood after his own band's opening set, and brother Chris, the bassist in that jazz fusion trio, realized they should be playing together. Years later the two, joined by multi instrumentalist Jano Rix, had built a sound that blends folk, gospel, blues and jazz, with Chris on upright bass and Oliver on acoustic and electric guitars. Their debut Ways Not To Lose came out on Blue Note in 2006, produced by John Medeski. The Muse (2013), produced by Buddy Miller, gave them their first Billboard chart success, and Paradise (2015) was the first record where all three members shared songwriting credits. Their 2018 album One Drop of Truth, which they produced themselves, earned a Grammy nomination for Best Americana Album. They kept going with Kingdom in My Mind in 2020 and Heart is the Hero in 2023.
