About
Thee Sinseers sound so convincingly like a 1960s soul outfit that first time listeners often assume the music is decades old. In reality, the eleven piece band from East Los Angeles has only been together since 2019. Led by multi instrumentalist and frontman Joey Quiñones, the group draws on the chicano soul tradition, nodding explicitly to Thee Midniters, the sixties chicano rock act, as a touchstone. Their debut album Sinseerly Yours and the follow up Love Stories, both released on Colemine Records, show a band refining that retro sound rather than simply recreating it. Warm analogue textures and arrangements by Skip Heller give Love Stories a layered feel, mapping the full range of human connection from family bonds to unrequited longing. Live, the group operates as a full soul revue, retro and contemporary at once.
