Tiana Major9 named herself after the major 9th chord, and that kind of musical specificity runs through everything she does. The London born singer blends soul, R&B, jazz, and reggae in a way that draws frequent comparisons to Amy Winehouse, Lauryn Hill, and Marsha Ambrosius. She broke through to a wider audience with 'Collide', her collaboration with EarthGang for the Queen & Slim soundtrack, which earned a Grammy nomination. That same year she appeared on Stormzy's album on the track 'Rainfall' and signed with Motown. She has two EPs under her belt: Rehearsal @ Nine from early 2019 and At Sixes and Sevens, released in August 2020. Both show off a voice that sits comfortably between intimate and commanding, rooted in gospel but reaching well beyond it.
