Elmiene first caught people's attention when a clip of him covering D'Angelo's "Untitled (How Does It Feel)" went viral on Instagram, and it was clear pretty quickly that this Oxford based British Sudanese singer was something special. His R&B draws on a soulful, emotional depth, and his output since going viral has been prolific: multiple EPs including "Anyway I Can" and "For the Deported", live recordings, and the 2025 mixtape "Heat the Streets". The single "Useless (Without You)" dropped the same year. The industry took notice fast. He placed fifth in the BBC Sound of 2024 poll and earned a Brit Award for Rising Star nomination in 2025, which is no small thing for an artist who had only just started releasing music a few years prior. His creative writing and poetry background at Bournemouth University seems to feed directly into his lyricism, giving his songs a literary quality that sets him apart in the R&B space.
