About
Treaty Oak Revival started as a cover band in Odessa, Texas, and have since carved out a genuinely hard to categorize sound that sits somewhere between red dirt country and post grunge rock. Singer Sam Canty calls them a "rock band with a country accent", and that about sums it up: lyrics about oil rigs, gas plants, and morally questionable characters delivered over music that hits too hard for Nashville and too twangy for rock radio. Their 2023 album Have a Nice Day broke into the Billboard 200 and gave them their first gold record with "Missed Call", which later went platinum. The band has been on a serious run lately. "Bad State of Mind" hit number 1 on Billboard's Bubbling Under chart and landed them a performance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. They followed that with The Talco Tapes, a stripped back acoustic set featuring a cover of the Goo Goo Dolls' "Name". Then came West Texas Degenerate, which reached number 1 on both Billboard's Top Rock Albums and Americana/Folk Albums charts and showed off the heavier, metal tinged side of the band that guitarist Lance Vanley credits to influences like Pantera and Van Halen.
