Trippie Redd built his name blending emo rap, trap and raw melodic energy in a way that made him one of the more distinctive voices to come out of the SoundCloud era. His 2017 debut mixtape A Love Letter to You kicked things off properly, with the lead single Love Scars going double platinum, and he followed it up at a relentless pace with sequels and his debut studio album Life's a Trip in 2018, which landed at number four on the Billboard 200. That same record gave him his first Billboard Hot 100 entries as lead artist, including Dark Knight Dummo with Travis Scott. His 2021 album Trip at Knight peaked at number two on the Billboard 200, and its lead single Miss the Rage with Playboi Carti hit number 11 on the Hot 100, still his highest charting song. He also linked up with punk rock drummer Travis Barker for the Neon Shark vs Pegasus project and collaborated with MGK on the EP Genre: Sadboy. His mixtape A Love Letter to You 4 went one better than all of them, topping the Billboard 200 entirely.
