Trivecta, the stage name of Tampa based producer Sam Dobkin, has carved out a genuinely hard to categorize corner of electronic music. His sound pulls freely from melodic dubstep, trance, house, folk, and psytrance, sometimes all within the same release. That genre blending instinct paid off when his 2019 collaboration with Seven Lions, Wooli, and Nevve, called "Island", cracked the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart at number 20. Fans coined the phrase "folk bass" to describe his 2020 debut EP, Everyday, on Ophelia Records, which one EDM.com reviewer called an innovative fusion of indie folk and melodic bass. His debut album The Way Back Up, released in 2022 on Ophelia Records, brought together melodic dubstep, country folk, liquid drum and bass, and psytrance in a way that felt less like a genre exercise and more like a genuine personal statement. Trivecta himself described the process as sketching little 15 second clips of ideas without any grand plan, which makes the cohesion of the finished record even more impressive. He has collaborated repeatedly with Seven Lions, appeared on the Ophelia Records Pantheon tour, and co written with Scott Stapp of Creed on the anthemic "Light Up the Sky".
