About
Viride Kwartet is a Dutch string quartet that has been playing together since 2017, and they have a reputation for programmes that don't sit still. Reviewers have picked up on two things in particular: the way the four of them breathe as one ensemble while still letting each voice stand out, and their knack for telling stories that get audiences curious about lesser known repertoire. Their programming happily jumps across centuries. A single set can run from Tchaikovsky through Philip Glass and Theo Verbey to Joseph Haydn, held together by shared threads like humour, deep emotion and repeating patterns. They like to play with expectations too, closing with Haydn instead of opening with him, so the oldest composer gets the last word.
