Will Westerman makes the kind of soft, searching music that critics keep reaching for comparisons to explain: Arthur Russell, Talk Talk, Nick Drake. The British singer songwriter built a following in the late 2010s on the strength of carefully crafted, intricate productions, and his 2020 debut Your Hero Is Not Dead, recorded between Lisbon and London with producer Nathan Jenkins, cemented his reputation. That record balances whimsical curiosity with real technical care, circling themes of uncertainty and self interrogation. His second album An Inbuilt Fault landed in 2023 to strong reviews and earned him the Billboard indie artist of the month nod. Then came A Jackal's Wedding in 2025, produced with Marta Salogni and featuring drummers Stella Mozgawa and James Krivchenia. Written in Athens and recorded on the Greek island Hydra, it strips things back further, leaning into piano and guitar arrangements that are noticeably more minimal than anything he had done before.
