About
Dove Ellis, the stage name of Irish musician Thomas O'Donoghue, came out of the gate with serious momentum. His debut single "To the Sandals" caught the ear of Paste magazine, which named it one of the best new songs of the week, and his debut album Blizzard followed on Black Butter and AMF Records in December 2025 to universal acclaim. The Economist put it in their top 10 albums of the year, calling it "a fabulous summation of his promise", and it earned a Mercury Prize nomination shortly after. Working in indie folk and singer songwriter territory, Ellis has shown a knack for understated but striking material. Singles "Love Is" and "Pale Song" both landed well ahead of the album, and "Love Is" also picked up a Paste best new song nod. He opened for Geese on their Getting Killed World Tour and recorded a session for Other Voices at St. James' Church in November 2025.
