Out of Palestine, Texas, Whiskey Myers have carved out a serious niche in Southern rock by blending gritty guitar work with a sound that owes as much to Lynyrd Skynyrd and Waylon Jennings as it does to modern country. Anchored by Cody Cannon's raw vocals and a lineup that stacks three guitarists, the band built their reputation the old fashioned way, grinding through the Texas and Red Dirt circuit before their 2011 album Firewater cracked the Billboard Top Country Albums chart on the back of "Ballad of a Southern Man". The real turning point came when the band appeared in four episodes of Taylor Sheridan's Yellowstone in 2018, sending their back catalog flying up the iTunes country chart and pushing Mud to the number one spot. Their self titled 2019 album then debuted at number one on Billboard Country and number six on the Billboard 200, a serious statement for a band that never really chased the mainstream.
