About
Also known as: Winston Bergwijn
Winne, born Winston Bergwijn in Paramaribo, has spent the better part of two decades as one of the most respected voices in Dutch hip hop. He broke through in 2005 with 'Top 3 MC', a track produced by Kapitein Mo that spread fast online, and signed with Top Notch in 2006. His debut album Winne Zonder Strijd landed in 2009, with 'W.I.N.N.E.' hitting number one in the FunX charts. Rooted in the nineties rap tradition of Nas and Jay Z, his lyrics lean hard into storytelling, authenticity, and social awareness. Beyond rapping, he runs his own independent label Couture 33, co directed theatre productions that toured the Netherlands and reached Harlem, New York, and co owns a gym in Rotterdam. His 2025 album Mssyeh is a deeply personal tribute to his late friend and fellow rapper Feis, released on Couture 33. He also serves as an ambassador for the Fenix Migration Museum in Rotterdam, a role that fits naturally with his long record of community involvement.
