About
Also known as: Julliard Frans
Rotterdam rapper Hef, born Julliard Frans, built his name on raw, street level rap that drew directly from life in Hoogvliet, one of Rotterdam's rougher boroughs. His 2008 single "Puur" put him on the map, and the mixtape Boyz in de hood vol. 1, recorded with his brothers and fellow rappers Adje and Crooks, earned them a State Award. He went on to win the prize three times in total, picking up Beste Artiest and Beste Single in 2010 alongside the mixtape win. His debut album Hefvermogen, originally a 2009 mixtape and later picked up and expanded by label Noah's Ark in 2010, set the tone for a prolific run that now spans over ten studio albums including Geit, Koud, Rook and Bloed Is Dikker Dan Water. Beyond music, he has appeared in films such as Gangsterboys, Patser and Bon Bini Holland 2, and co founded the rap collective Straight Outta Control in 2015 with Adje, Big2 and others.
