About
Also known as: Abdel Achahbar
Utrecht bred rapper Lijpe built his following almost entirely through online video, with some clips racking up over a million views long before radio ever picked him up. Signing to Top Notch in 2014 after a tip from fellow rapper Kempi, he dropped his debut EP Van de bodem naar de grond and followed it up with his debut album Levensles in 2015. That same year he was part of the New Wave collective, a crew that included Ronnie Flex, Lil' Kleine and Jonna Fraser, whose collaborative album became the most streamed Dutch release of 2015 on Spotify. His 2016 album Jackpot landed at number 2 on the Dutch Albums chart, with no fewer than seventeen of its tracks charting simultaneously in the Single Top 100. His 2017 follow up Zandloper went one better, entering the chart straight at number one.
