Wounded are a Dutch melancholic rock band from Emmen, Drenthe, drawing comparisons to Type O Negative, Paradise Lost and The Cure. Their sound blends doom, gothic and dark wave textures, and over the years it has grown to absorb symphonic rock, post rock, and even orchestral elements. Third album Atlantic, released in 2004, was the real breakthrough moment, landing in underground and mainstream charts across Europe and putting them on stages alongside the likes of HIM and Tiamat. After a long gap, 2016's Sunset marked a confident return, and the 2018 compilation In Silence showed a different side of the band with electronic and orchestral reworkings of tracks from all four albums. Tragedy struck during sessions for new material when longtime drummer Alwin Schnoing passed away, but the band pressed on, quietly dropping the 'The' from their name in the process. In late 2023 they released two linked projects, the mini album The Sky Is Yours and the full length The Sky Is Ours, both built around tales of historical figures and events.
