On November 6, Alanis Morissette is releasing her first Christmas album, featuring fourteen tracks, two originals, and guests like Brandi Carlile, Steve Martin and Martin Short.

Alanis Morissette is releasing her very first Christmas album on 6 November. The Canadian singer has called the record Good Weather for Immaculate Conception, a title that, according to Pitchfork, could only have come from her. The album comes out through Virgin Music's Epiphany label and features fourteen tracks.
The tracklist leans mostly on familiar Christmas repertoire, including O Holy Night, Little Drummer Boy, Ave Maria, What Child Is This? and Silent Night. On top of that, Morissette throws in covers of more modern classics: Happy Xmas (War Is Over) by John Lennon and Yoko Ono, River by Joni Mitchell and Last Christmas by Wham! That last one is also why the album is making headlines in the Netherlands. She also wrote two new songs of her own, To an Empath at Christmas Time and Christmas on the Dancefloor.
The long guest list stands out. The first single, Beautiful Star of Bethlehem, was recorded with Brandi Carlile and actor and comedian Steve Martin, and you can already hear it. Martin Short, another comedian and actor, sings along on Merry Christmas. Morissette also teams up with Amythyst Kiah on Momma Mary, with Joy Oladokun on Silent Night and with Trans Voices, the UK's first professional trans choir, on O Tannenbaum.
For Morissette, the album brings together a tradition she has built up herself in recent years. Since 2020 she has regularly put out a cover of a Christmas classic around the holidays, and a number of those earlier versions have now made it onto the record. Her last studio album, Such Pretty Forks in the Road, also came out in 2020.
The news comes during a busy stretch for the singer. Earlier this year she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In August she turned up unannounced at Olivia Rodrigo's first Daisy Chain Fields festival show, where they sang Ironic together. She also sang the Canadian national anthem at the opening ceremony of the 2026 World Cup. On top of that, her residency Butterfly With a Machete is returning to Los Angeles, with a new run of shows starting on 5 November at the YouTube Theater, one day before the album's release.
For Dutch fans, the album is especially interesting because Morissette is taking on a song that is a fixture on Dutch playlists every December. Whether the album will bring a Dutch tour or Christmas shows with it isn't mentioned in the coverage.
