Quality Control founder Pierre 'P' Thomas hospitalized after heart attack

Pierre 'P' Thomas, the 45 year old co founder and CEO of influential hip hop label Quality Control Music, was rushed to the intensive care unit of a Las Vegas hospital on Friday, August 21, after suffering a heart attack. His representatives confirmed the news through an official statement, emphasizing that he is alive and receiving medical care.

"We want to clarify that Pierre 'P' Thomas is alive and currently hospitalized receiving medical care," his spokesperson's statement read. "We ask that everyone keep P and his family in their thoughts and prayers and respectfully give them the privacy and space they need during this time. We deeply appreciate everyone's concern, support, prayers, and loving energy right now."

Thomas co founded Quality Control Music in 2013 alongside Kevin 'Coach K' Lee, based out of Atlanta. The label grew into one of the most defining forces in contemporary hip hop, with artists like Migos, Lil Baby, Lil Yachty, the City Girls, and Quavo on its roster. The rise of these names dramatically reshaped the sound of mainstream rap throughout the 2010s.

In 2023, Quality Control entered into a partnership worth 320 million dollars with Hybe America, the US division of the South Korean entertainment company behind acts including BTS. The deal was facilitated by music industry veteran Scooter Braun. Despite the agreement, Thomas and Coach K retained full control over the label, which has since expanded its operations into marketing, branding, A&R, sports management, and film.

Reflecting on the legacy he hopes to leave behind, Thomas told XXL in the winter of 2023: "That we was a Black company that came in this business with a lot of doors closed on us. And we overcame a lot of adversity and developed some of the biggest superstars of our time."
