About
Adrian Younge operates somewhere between a vintage film lot and a jazz conservatory, blending analog warmth with sharp compositional instincts across soul, jazz, hip hop and beyond. His 2009 Black Dynamite soundtrack put him on the map, and the Something About April series showed he could sustain a whole aesthetic world across multiple records. He has produced for Ghostface Killah, Jay Z, Kendrick Lamar, Common and Wu Tang Clan, among others, and contributed to the Luke Cage scores alongside Ali Shaheed Muhammad of A Tribe Called Quest. With Muhammad he also co founded the Jazz Is Dead label in 2017, a project that has paired the two producers with living legends like Roy Ayers, Marcos Valle and Tony Allen. Younge runs the vinyl shop Artform Studio in Los Angeles and released The American Negro in 2021, a record tied to a podcast exploring systemic racism in the US. His output in 2025 includes Something About April III and a collaboration with Brazilian actress Samantha Schmütz, suggesting he shows no signs of slowing down.
