About
Adrian Quesada has built one of the more quietly impressive careers in American music, spending 15 years playing with Austin's Grupo Fantasma before co founding Black Pumas with vocalist Eric Burton in 2017. That project turned heads fast: their self titled debut landed in June 2019, and within four months they were nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys. The band went on to rack up six Grammy nominations in total, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year, and performed at events ranging from Austin City Limits to the concert celebrating Biden's inauguration. Quesada also works steadily as a producer out of his Austin studio, Electric Deluxe, with over 150 production credits to his name. His 2022 solo record Boleros Psicodélicos drew on Latin American psychedelic ballads of the sixties and seventies, featuring collaborators like iLe, Gabriel Garzón Montano and Marc Ribot. Then in 2024 he co wrote and performed on "Like A Bird" from the film Sing Sing, earning an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song.
