Karlsruhe duo Âme, made up of Kristian Beyer and Frank Wiedemann, bonded over a shared love of Chicago house and Detroit techno after meeting in Beyer's record shop back in 2000. They caught the attention of Jazzanova early on, landing their debut single on Sonar Kollektiv in 2003, and the track Rej helped push them into wider recognition. Mixmag named them Duo of the Year in 2006, and their remix work for artists like The xx, Franz Ferdinand and Osunlade kept their profile high. Together with Dixon they run the Berlin label Innervisions, which started as a Sonar Kollektiv sublabel before going independent in 2011. Their 2018 album Dream House took a more experimental turn, pulling in influences from progressive rock and krautrock and featuring collaborators including Planningtorock, Gudrun Gut and Hans Joachim Roedelius. More recently they have been putting out new material including collaborations with Busiswa and with Trikk featuring Jens Kuross.
