Henrik Schwarz is a German producer and DJ from the Bodensee region who moves fluidly between deep house, nu jazz, and contemporary classical, often within the same project. Since the early 1990s he has built a reputation as someone who refuses to stay in one lane: he has remixed Coldplay, Mary J. Blige, and Foals, collaborated with jazz heavyweights Bugge Wesseltoft and Dan Berglund, and performed live sets with full orchestras like the Metropole Orkest. The 2007 release Henrik Schwarz Live captured his transition from straight DJ sets to live laptop performance, a move that pointed toward where he was heading. He also co founded the label Between Buttons with !K7, a platform aimed at acoustic sounds and contemporary classical music. His own EP Works Piano was the label's debut release, and subsequent releases spotlighted Syrian artists Khaled Kurbeh and Raman Khalaf Ensemble. More recently he teamed up with the Alma Quartet for the CCMYK project, pressed as a limited four colour vinyl edition.
