Ana Popovic (RS)

About

Serbian born guitarist and singer Ana Popovic has built a serious reputation in blues and blues rock since the late 1990s, blending raw guitar work with soul, funk, and rock across more than a decade of touring and recording. She put out her debut solo album Hush! in 2001 on Ruf Records, recorded in Memphis and produced by Jim Gaines, who had previously worked with Carlos Santana and John Lee Hooker. That record launched a run that eventually landed two number one spots on the Billboard Blues chart, with Still Making History and Unconditional both reaching the top. Her 2016 triple album Trilogy brought in guests like Joe Bonamassa and Robert Randolph, and her 2018 record Like It on Top was produced by Keb' Mo' in Nashville. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in late 2020, she kept performing and recording throughout her treatment, releasing Power in 2023, her first studio album in five years. Her guitar playing sits at the centre of everything she does, drawing on slide work, blues phrasing, and a funk influenced groove that keeps her sound energetic and direct.
