Archspire play technical death metal at speeds that genuinely push what human hands can do, and their Vancouver roots have produced some of the most mechanically precise music in the genre. Guitarist techniques like sweep picking, tapping, and pinch harmonics sit alongside drummer Spencer Prewett's signature "switch blast", a two handed blast beat manoeuvre that sounds like it was designed to break wrists. Vocalist Oli Peters takes his rhythmic inspiration from chopper rappers like Tech N9ne and Busta Rhymes, which gives the band a strangely hypnotic quality beneath all the intensity. Their lyrics lean into sci fi and body horror, with recurring themes of transhumanism and cults. Their 2021 album Bleed the Future won a Juno Award and landed on Loudwire's best metal albums of the year list. After Prewett's departure in 2024, the band went through a turbulent lineup search before bringing in ex Inferi drummer Spencer Moore. Rather than sign to a label again, they launched a Kickstarter to fund their fifth album independently, and in December 2025 announced Too Fast to Die along with the lead single Carrion Ladder.
