About
The Zenith Passage have been one of Los Angeles's most technically ambitious metal acts since forming in 2012, blending technical death metal with djent and progressive metal in a way that rewards repeated listens. Their debut EP Cosmic Dissonance announced their intentions clearly, and their 2016 full length Solipsist pushed further, featuring guest vocals from Fallujah's Alex Hofmann and a guitar solo from ex The Faceless axeman Wes Hauch. The band's ties to The Faceless run deep: guitarist Justin McKinney joined that band in 2015, while Derek Rydquist and Brandon Giffin, veterans of The Faceless's first two albums, came aboard The Zenith Passage in 2021. Signed to Metal Blade Records since late 2022, they released their second full length Datalysium in July 2023. A 2025 guitar playthrough featuring McKinney and Christopher Beattie on a track called Deletion Cult suggests new music is in the works, keeping the band firmly in motion.
