Psycroptic have been pushing the boundaries of technical death metal since forming in Hobart, Tasmania in 1999, built around the core partnership of brothers Dave Haley on drums and Joe Haley on guitar. Their sound is precise and punishing, the kind of playing that earns respect in extreme metal circles worldwide. After signing to Nuclear Blast in 2008 and releasing the well regarded Ob(Servant), they kept the momentum going through a string of albums including The Inherited Repression, a self titled record on Prosthetic Records, and As the Kingdom Drowns. That last one even came paired with a charity push to help save Tasmanian devils from extinction, which is a very on brand Hobart move. Their eighth album, Divine Council, landed in August 2022, and a ninth record, The Pulse of Annihilation, is on the way. Over the years they have shared stages with Nile, Deicide, Cannibal Corpse and plenty more heavyweights.
