About
Bassvictim make the kind of music that sounds like it was recorded in a dingy London flat at 2am, all clanging percussion, gnarled harp sounds, and howling synths. The London duo, singer Maria Manow and producer Ike Clateman, got their start in 2022 after a chance encounter outside the south London club Peckham Audio, and the name itself came from Clateman stepping out to escape the noise inside. Their debut album Forever landed in October 2025 to serious critical attention, earning a 7.5 from Pitchfork, who ranked it among the 50 best albums of that year. NME placed them at the centre of what they called a glorious electroclash renaissance, alongside Snow Strippers and The Hellp. Equal parts electroclash, electropop, and witch house, their sound sits somewhere between nostalgic and genuinely new.
