From East London, Bel Cobain makes music that sits somewhere between jazz, soul and psychedelic art pop, with Kate Bush and Pink Floyd among her stated reference points. Her songwriting leans toward poetic, personal storytelling layered over dreamy, ethereal melodies with touches of experimental electronics. She broke through in 2019 with 'Introverted Stoner' and has since played festivals including Glastonbury and venues like the Jazz Cafe. Her EP 'Radical Forgiveness' pulls together raw personal narratives and atmospheric production, performed live with an eclectic ensemble that adds real depth to the sound. She records for Brownswood Recordings, the label run by Gilles Peterson.
