About
Ben Caplan has built a reputation as one of Canada's most viscerally compelling live performers, a Halifax based folk musician whose voice The Guardian described as something nothing quite prepares you for. His catalog ranges from what critics called "Satanic hoedowns" to swaying country heartbreakers, all delivered with a larger than life presence that has won over audiences from Glastonbury to the Sydney Festival. His 2018 record Old Stock and the reimagined collection recollection followed a stretch of relentless touring across North America, Europe, and Australia. In 2025 he released his fifth album The Flood, with an official video dropping in April of that year. Along the way he picked up Nova Scotia Music Awards, an East Coast Music Award for Rising Star Recording of the Year, and a Hamilton Music Award for Roots Recording, performing often alongside his band the Casual Smokers.
