About
Biita Houdei is the solo project of singer songwriter Lisa Houdei, who previously released music under the name LéPonds. Based in Woodstock, New York, she draws on both her Persian heritage and her American life, weaving the two together into a sound that sits somewhere in the experimental folk space. Her guitar playing is largely self taught and intuitive, which gives her style a distinct quality you won't easily place. Her songs tend to be emotionally dense, shifting between dreaminess and intensity, warmth and something closer to ritual. Listeners who are into Haley Heynderickx, Jessica Pratt, Fleet Foxes or Grizzly Bear are likely to find her music familiar in spirit but very much her own. Under the LéPonds name she put out three albums before stepping into this new chapter. The album This Bed Was Made For Me represents her work as Biita Houdei, rooted in tradition but never constrained by it.
