About
Also known as: Bon Giovi, Bon Jovi and Baktabak, BonJovi, ボン・ジョヴィ
Few rock bands have straddled the line between arena crushing hard rock and radio friendly pop as comfortably as Bon Jovi. Formed in Sayreville, New Jersey in 1983 around singer Jon Bon Jovi, the band broke through in a big way with the 1986 album Slippery When Wet, which put two songs at number one on the Billboard Hot 100: "You Give Love a Bad Name" and "Livin' on a Prayer". Their follow up New Jersey kept the momentum going with five Top 10 singles, and they toured relentlessly through the late 1980s. Over 130 million records sold worldwide and 3000 concerts across 50 countries tell the story of a band that rarely stood still. After a mid 1990s commercial peak with "Always", their longest charting single ever, they reinvented themselves again with the 2000 album Crush, pulling in a whole new generation of fans. A Grammy win for "Who Says You Can't Go Home" proved they could hold their own on the country charts too, something virtually no rock band had managed before. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, Bon Jovi remain one of the most consistent live draws in rock history.
