About
Bright Eyes is the Omaha, Nebraska project built around singer songwriter Conor Oberst, alongside producer and multi instrumentalist Mike Mogis and arranger/composer Nate Walcott. The rotating cast of collaborators drawn from Omaha's indie scene gives the band a fluid, almost collective feel, and the music shifts just as freely, spanning folk, electronic pop, emo, and alt country depending on the record. The 2002 album Lifted or The Story Is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground was a genuine breakthrough, selling over 250,000 copies and landing Oberst on the cover of major publications. The twin 2005 releases, the folk leaning I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning and the electronic Digital Ash in a Digital Urn, cemented the band's reputation for bold, restless experimentation. After a hiatus following 2011's The People's Key, they returned in 2020 on Dead Oceans and have kept going, releasing their latest album Five Dice, All Threes in 2024.
