Caleb Caudle

About

Caleb Caudle writes songs about ordinary people, moral choices, and the everyday grind of getting by, and he does it with a storyteller's eye and a lot of empathy. Rooted in folk and country, his sound also carries traces of the indie rock he grew up hearing, which keeps things from ever feeling too traditional. He comes from North Carolina, where his family had deep ties to farming, and that background shows up in his work in ways both literal and subtle. His album Heavy Thrill marked a couple of firsts: it was his debut as his own producer, recorded at Cash Cabin Studio in Tennessee, and it came with the launch of his own imprint, Handplow Records. The label name references an old family farming tool, which fits neatly with his themes of hard work and finding meaning in it. He also tied album sales to a food donation scheme, pledging a thousand meals to a North Carolina food bank for every hundred copies sold.
