About
For over fifty years, Cesar Zuiderwijk was the engine room behind Golden Earring, the Dutch rock band responsible for 'Radar Love', 'Twilight Zone' and 'When the Lady Smiles'. He joined in 1970 and the lineup barely changed after that, with Zuiderwijk locking in alongside George Kooymans, Barry Hay and Rinus Gerritsen for the long haul. His live performances became legendary for a drum solo that grew longer with every tour, always ending with him launching himself clean over his own kit. When Golden Earring called it a day in 2021 after Kooymans fell seriously ill, Zuiderwijk kept busy. He had already co founded the band Sloper with Belgian drummer Mario Goossens of Triggerfinger, and since 2022 he has been a judge on the Dutch TV show The Tribute, Battle of the Bands. Teaching drums has also been a big part of his life for decades, from running music stations in Rotterdam to giving lessons to war traumatised kids in Mostar for War Child back in 1999.
