About
Chat Pile take their name from the toxic waste mounds left behind by lead zinc mining across northeastern Oklahoma, which tells you pretty much everything about the mood they're going for. The Oklahoma City four piece, operating under pseudonyms like Raygun Busch and Luther Manhole, deal in noise rock and sludge metal that tries, in their own words, to capture the anxiety and fear of watching the world fall apart. Their 2022 debut album God's Country landed them a Pitchfork Best New Music tag, and the follow up Cool World arrived in late 2024. Influences run from Big Black and Godflesh to, without any shame whatsoever, Korn. They've been busy on multiple fronts. In 2025 they launched their own label, Dungeon Earth, releasing two tape only noise and ambient collections from the Cool World sessions. That same year they put out In the Earth Again, a full collaborative album with guitarist Hayden Pedigo, through both The Flenser and Computer Students simultaneously.
