About
Ontaard is a four piece from Utrecht whose music sits somewhere between spoken word, visceral screams and a full wall of sound. Vocalist Shira's lyrics are feminist and politically engaged, carrying the full emotional weight those themes demand. Live, the band moves between fragile near silence and crushing intensity, sometimes within the same song, which makes their shows feel like a genuine event rather than just a set. They have played across the Netherlands and earned notable slots at Roadburn, including a surprise appearance and a commissioned collaborative project called Something To Lose. Support runs alongside Agriculture, Deafheaven and Esben and the Witch give a sense of where they sit sonically. Their catalogue includes the EP I am but my Flesh, the collaborative release Oud Zeer, and the live album Something To Lose, with a debut full length titled A Monster Named Shame on the way.
