Enter Shikari have never really fit neatly into one box, and that's exactly the point. The St Albans band blend post hardcore guitar aggression with electronic music, rave textures and chiptune elements in a way that still sounds genuinely singular. Starting out as Hybryd in 1999, they renamed themselves after a boat owned by Reynolds' uncle, the Hindi and Urdu word for hunter, and built a fanbase the hard way through relentless touring and self released demo EPs before a single major label ever got involved. Their debut album Take to the Skies hit number 4 in the UK in 2007, and they've been climbing ever since, running their own label Ambush Reality the whole time. A Kiss for the Whole World gave them their first UK number one in 2023, a milestone that took decades of stubbornly doing things on their own terms to reach. Live, they are known for an intense, light drenched show where Rou Reynolds switches between screaming vocals and electronics mid song while the whole band keeps the energy at full tilt.
